Digital Realty has secured a bid to build a new data center on the site of a former sugar silo at Marseille-Fos Port in France. The facility, called MRS5, will cover approximately 10,000 square meters and is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. The project is estimated to cost €260 million. Digital Realty beat out other developers, including Telehouse, for the opportunity. The Marseille site, which has been abandoned since 2015, requires asbestos removal. Digital Realty already operates multiple data centers in Marseille, with MRS2, MRS3, and MRS4 in close proximity to the new site. In addition, Digital Realty has confirmed plans for a third campus in Paris, called PAR13, which will provide 20MW of capacity initially and has the potential for expansion up to 80MW. The Paris campus will cover a total area of 54,000 square meters across two two-story buildings.
