August 15, Mumbai- Equinix has announced its commitment to invest $42 million in the upcoming International Business Exchange (IBX) data center named MB4 situated in Mumbai.
With a target launch slated for the fourth quarter of 2023, pending regulatory approvals, the data center’s initial phase is set to introduce 350 cabinets, establishing a robust infrastructure to accommodate digital expansion.
MB4’s strategic positioning will enable seamless integration with major telecommunications networks, facilitated by the availability of Metro Connect® services, extending from Equinix’s existing data center sites, MB1 and MB2.
Equinix is rolling out its digital interconnection services for enterprises in India. These services will assist organizations in India to establish on-demand data center-to-data center network connections within a city or between global locations with software-defined interconnection.
In recent years, Mumbai has emerged as a prominent player in the data center market, solidifying its position as the third biggest data center market in the Asia-Pacific region.
Just this year, data center operators such CapitaLand and BAM Digital, have announced their entry into the Mumbai Market. Meanwhile, Web Werks along with Iron Mountain is building a third data center facility in Mumbai
